I met him a time or two in the 70's, when he was one of a number of mining MP's, I was close to Roy Mason. We got on fine, a very decent man, and a bright one as well. I suspect his background necessarily leads him to be impatient of the inane garbage speak that is usual in the House of Commons.
Demetrius - I can't warm to the chap at all but I like his point about power being taken away from MPs. Such a powerfully simple point which cuts through all the waffle.
When elected, didn't he say that he would retire at 65 if he continued to be elected as he "wouldn't take the job off a younger man."? How old is he now? Bloody money grabbing hypocrite.
I recalled that on Friday 22 May 2015 I did a post about Skinner pointing out that he was of Kentish origin from families of Ag Lab's, I think it was titled "Are you sitting comfortably?". He is not alone, Mrs. Thatcher had similar in her ancestry.
