Enough gas for 1000 years

The Department of Energy announced plans to ramp up methane hydrate extraction research after a preliminary test was declared a success Wednesday. Surveys estimate that successful extraction of natural gas from methane hydrates could power America for the next 1,000 years.

This is at the research stage, so unproven but highly interesting to say the least. I wonder what the climate nuts think about methane hydrates? The Chinese are certainly interested.

Mark - I'll probably do a post on it. Not as technical as it sounds.

Witterings - a dispute could be interesting though.
