Disturbing the peace on Rannoch Moor

Can't say I ever warmed to the Great Moor of Rannoch. Desolate bloody spot.

DJ - more steam engines are the answer!

dearieme - I've never been there, but although I generally like the atmospheric feel of moorland walks, they are desolate places under a grey sky. They can become boring too after a few miles.

I can recommend the hills in southern Scotland for moorland. In particular I always enjoyed walking in the Pentlands.

dearieme - not an area I know, I only ever visited the north west of Scotland and that was decades ago. Beautiful area though.
