Government AI note-taking trialled by 25 councils
Launched by government earlier this year, the Minute software designed to listen in on meetings and provide automated transcripts and other notes is being tested by authorities around the country
A government-developed artificial intelligence tool designed to automate note-taking is being trialled by 25 local councils around the country.
The Minute software – which forms part of the wider Humprehy [sic] suite of AI programs – “uses generative AI to turn meetings into notes and adds unique tools to help tweak and correct summaries more efficiently”, according to the government.
The AI fly on the wall may become confused.
I didn't say that, I merely coughed.
It wasn't a promise, merely a possibility, we didn't actually commit.
I certainly didn't say anything about lying.
I was talking about the biscuits over coffee.
I thought the AI thing was turned off at that point.
It was supposed to be a joke.
I wasn't snoring, how could it accuse me of snoring?

In some ways it couldn’t be worse than my former Head of Department, who, apparently confused between minutes and agenda, invariably turned up with a ready-made summary of the discussion we were about to have. If there was any disagreement or variation, she just ignored it and submitted her unaltered ‘minutes’ to the management for filing.
On the other hand, I really don’t like the distinctly Orwellian sound of ‘ unique tools to help tweak and correct summaries’…
In other news the AI programs threaten to go on strike if they have to sit through more pointless meetings that achieve nothing.
Get AI to chase up people with action points and report progress before the next meeting and there may be some benefit.
I would love to see its attempt to print out a 'Stanley Unwin' type of speech.
Macheath - "I really don’t like the distinctly Orwellian sound of ‘ unique tools to help tweak and correct summaries’"
Especially when we know "my dad was a toolmaker."
DJ - I think the AI system could overwhelm the minority who actually do something as the others make sure no actions are assigned to them.
DAD - I would love to try Stanley Unwin on it too, especially the invented words -
“Oh, folly, folly but deep joy at the performages in the meetimode."
