Had a call from our log supplier today. He's inundated with orders and can't deliver our annual load until early May. Not a problem for us because we still have plenty, but people seem to be stocking up early.
Sam - it's almost as if the government has cocked up energy policy for a few decades and people are beginning to notice. I've already added a security light to our log store.
A narrowboat is very useful for collecting logs. We just take it down the canal and go foraging in a suitable wood with a chain saw. The canal trust people sometimes leave piles of logs on the banks after trimming overgrown trees and wind falls, and a narrowboat is as good as a lorry.
Vatsmith - we didn't see many trees down either. Maybe the potential for wind damage is exaggerated compared to earlier times.
Tammly - that sounds like a way to collect enormous amounts of wood.
Bucko - we have an MX5 as a second car which is good fun but we can't even pick up the grandkids in it.
Andy - in that case check the insurance first.
Tammly - I think Drax uses wood pellets and there are domestic central heating boilers which use wood pellets. Maybe not the same size though. Our chimney sweep told me that the domestic wood pellet boilers are unreliable too - the pellet feeds keep jamming.

Disappointingly few trees blown down in the local woodland after Eunice and Franklin. Even storms ain't what they used to be.
