And the problem is?

Force us to fund free TV licences and channels will close, BBC tells PM

The BBC warns it would be forced to close several channels - including BBC Two - if it had to fund free licences for all over-75s.

According to the corporation, it would be forced to close BBC Two, BBC Four, the BBC News Channel, the BBC Scotland channel, Radio 5 Live and several local radio stations if it funded the policy.

Why stop at just those channels?

It's nonsense anyhow, their pretend loss is far less than the cost of all that lot, typical lefty scaremongering.

the Gov says that the money for the over 75s was factored into the latest grant to the BBC. Hence the row. I've got hundreds of TV channels and never watch most of them. The BBC of course says it will close down the only good one it has, BBC4. The rest show mostly dross any way like strictly come dancing and other rubbish.

They could sack the crisp salesman too.

The only BBC stuff I ever listen to, is R5 Dead, because if I can't sleep, it does at least provide some sort of diversion.

Trouble is when they start yelling and screaming about foobull and F1, the earphones start to wobble alarmingly...

I actually rather like Dotun Adebayo, as he at least tries to be impartial, and is the only bloke really worth listening to in my 'umble opinion yer Honour...

I hope the BBC is going to find that the Boris Honey Badger has only just begun to nibble their ankles. They'd better make a deal now or look forward to a much worse one in a few years time.

FE - I agree. Begin by pruning the beast.

microdave - good question. I'd cull all of them but a good hard prune is a start.

Woodsy - I suspect you are right, the channels were probably chosen for effect.

Dr Evil - maybe BBC4 was chosen because of its audience.

Crikey - and he wouldn't be missed.

Scrobs - almost the only radio we listen to is Dismuke. I've never tried it as a way to get to sleep, I just read until I drop my Kindle.

decnine - I hope so. He certainly seems to be aware of its political limitations as far as his party is concerned.

Please, please close the department that adds meaningless noise to everything.
Then again it might be a crap computer program and costs zilch.
All the same get rid of it.

Doonhamer - yes it's like tinnitus. I'd vote for getting rid of it.
