So if you're not good at driving it's not a big problem

When it first came out I thought the Sinclair C5 should have been something like this.

What's interesting is how the Chinese have learnt from our mistakes, but also ignored a lot of our successes. They have avoided the mass production of large fast expensive status-symbol cars. But individually, they have the safety-consciousness of drunken lemmings.

By coincidence, I was in London the day Sinclair launched his A-bike, and saw one wobbling along near Paddington station.

That never took off either...

Around that time I saw one in Camden, the 'driver' was peddaling at the time which I thought made the thing rather pointless, and so it soon proved.

A long time ago I had a 1934 Austin 7. It worked very well, once you got it started.

Anon - China I imagine but maybe they would sell over here too.

Sam - maybe they think safety stifles progress or maybe they just find it boring. I suppose it is rather boring.

Scrobs and Wiggia - the A-bike looks dodgy to me too. I wouldn't use one.

Demetrius - more recently but still a long time ago I had a Ford Escort which didn't work particularly well and was a swine to start in cold damp weather.
