A few weeks ago a section of road on our school run turned wet and stayed wet. This was during the summer heat wave which seems to have disappeared now, so the cause was rather obvious - a leaking water main under the road.
The water company duly set up traffic lights, dug a large hole in the road, left it for about a week, did some work, filled in the hole, took away the traffic lights and cleared off. Hooray!
Unfortunately the same section of road turned wet again and stayed wet again. still during the summer heat wave so the cause was even more obvious - the leaking water main under the road was still leaking.

Similar problem but involving local council, lay by for bus stop flooding badly every time it rained and not draining.
Has been like that and getting worse, spreading right across the road, but council blamed housebuilders who filled in a ditch ?
Much anger directed at council who would not do anything saying new roadworks would solve problem eventually, council turn up, after five years remember and with a gulley cleaner problem solved and we pay for this nonsense.
Of course Thatcher brexit Tory cuts were the real villain....................

Wiggia - we saw a similar problem until quite recently. Huge puddle across the road every time it rained heavily and this went on for years too. One day the road drain is cleared and the problem never comes back.
