Elegance

Avocet on Titchwell Marsh this afternoon. Lots of them around but always worth watching. They seem so fastidious as they delicately pick their way across the mud.

Quite a few years ago we had a break on a caravan site nearby, indeed the wild life was interesting. Sadly, after a few days rain we began to sink and had to go home.

That is a beautiful picture!

Not a lot of opportunity to do this around here, but to see such delicacy is enough for now!
Thank you!

I've never actually seen an avocet, but we are off to the Suffolk coast for a few days, and hope springs eternal...

I believe they used to be very rare (Minsmere or nowhere) but that now they are making a comeback.

I was there last week, along with other sites that make this part of the coast unique.

Demetrius - in our experience rain tends to prefer caravan sites.

Scrobs - we have a similar problem back home - not many suitable marshes in Derbyshire.

Sam - while on holiday in Suffolk in the late seventies we visited Minsmere with my parents who were keen to see the avocets. At the time they were just making a comeback. Worth seeing because they are very striking birds.

Wiggia - strange to think that but for a week we may have crossed paths without ever knowing it.

Cherry - thanks. It's mostly luck - right place right time.
