His gravity was unusual, portentous, and immeasurable, not
because he admitted any doubt of himself but because he perceived it necessary
to forestall any doubt of himself in others. And herein he ranged with that
very numerous class of impostors who are quite as determined to keep up
appearances to themselves, as to their neighbours.

He's the archetype all right.
Brilliant.
Mind you, he is looking increasingly bewildered and aged, as this picture shows. Is it just me, or can anyone else see hints of Alan Bennett? It must be a shock to belatedly realise that the lesbian you have turned is not one of the glam ones that you find in porno, and to also be facing a spell in the slammer.
I will return later in great anticipation of Mr. Duff sniffing out this post and leaving his usual gem. DD on Huhne is one of life's great pleasures.
JH - he is, but it's time we had a new one.
SV - I see hints of bewilderment too, or at least I hope I do!
