Oh dear, how sad, never mind

Soham killer Ian Huntley 'unlikely to survive prison attack'

The former school caretaker, who murdered 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, has been kept on life support in hospital after being hit repeatedly over the head by an inmate armed with a metal bar.

Good riddance.

One of the oddities of the Press at the time was that they insisted on claiming that he had been the school caretaker at the wee girls' school. But he hadn't.

P.S. We didn't say "school caretaker" in my day, we said "janitor" (aka "jannie"). What did you call the job in England?

dearieme - yes, good riddance. We called them 'school caretakers' and it was the same at our grandkid's primary schools.

I am always reluctant to relish some convict's hard treatment in prison. It seems uncharitable. On the other hand I'd argue that the worst offenders, convicted of more than one murder, should be executed or offered assisted suicide.

DJ - some horrific crimes grab the attention and this for me was one of them. To my mind he should have been hanged rather than being dealt with 'unofficially' like this, but he earned it.
