No much election fever round here. There are lots of Tory
posters but hardly any from Labour and no sign of the party faithful slogging
away door to door. All we’ve seen so far is our local MP wandering around
on his own.
A few leaflets have popped through the letter box but we’ve no real idea who the Labour candidate is. His leaflet has almost no personal
information so we’re assuming he must be some stooge from central casting.
It’s all very low-key and unexciting for which both main
party leaders must take the credit. The only bright spark has been Diane Abbott
making an even bigger fool of herself than usual. Now the story is that she is
has been sidelined for health reasons which appears to be untrue but nobody
seems to care anyway.
Even so I’m tempted to stay up on Thursday night, at least
to see how the early results go. Not something I usually do, but in spite of the desultory and inept way the
election has been conducted, this one feels too quiet to be uninteresting. As if something is going on beneath the surface.

My thoughts too, Mr H.
Probably induced by the sheer panic at the BBC, and other lefties everywhere, so some bright spark has engineered an interesting algorithm to TV 'presentation'.
Just about everyone I know decoded months ago who to vote for, but I heard some idiot on the wireless last night saying that they never decide until the day before an election, which to me is tiresome stupidity.
A K Haart,

I agree and feel sure we’re being manipulated on a grand scale; but to what ends? That's the scary question.
We shall go into splendid isolation when the polls close and stay there as long as possible, having had the grocery delivery this morning.
I doubt very much will happen. My money is on a comfortable-ish win for Mrs May. Business at local polling station was described as 'brisk' which suggests a higher turnout than usual. What this means is anyone's guess. For myself, I will finish a glass of something and toddle off to bed as usual. I expect the usual breathless fuss as Friday wears on and the weekend newspapers will be full of it - unfortunately.
The interesting business will start later on, probably after the German elections in September. By then we will be on the home straight, probably with nothing decided and the sound of fingernails being chewed and hands being wrung emanating from Westminster and the City. What joy.

*chuckles*
Scrobs - round here it feels as if the local Labour party isn't prepared to make an effort for Team Corbyn.
Mac - I'm sure we are being manipulated too, but as you say - to what ends?
Demetrius - we are well stocked too - wine rack almost full.
Roger - yes the polls suggest comfortable-ish win for Mrs May. As I tend to wake up early I may decide to forget about the late night vigil, but I'm still tempted.
James - it's odd because there must be quite a few local Labour possibles. It's almost as if they aren't interested.
