Low carbon living

Now just suppose I decided to knock down my house and rebuild exactly same size but with top banana insulation, boiler etc etc. One would think a single phone call to local council with a cheery 'certainly Sir' would be the response plus 'No, no charge for Building Control and no Planning Permission needed' would be a sane way to proceed. As if.

Economic lunacy anyway, so shan't bother. Seems stupid really, pop along to any ski chalet and feel the radiators - barely warm.

Roger - I'm not a building bod. but I suspect those ski chalets are rather better insulated than our housing stock.

Demetrius - Jack may have to change his ways if cold winters are with us again.

Actually, they look rather like us, except that my wife is taller than me, and (I hasten to add) a good deal more desirable than the lady depicted.

It's a hard life, but when the local youths jeer and throw things at me, I console myself with thoughts of my wood pile (stunning this year, simply stunning) and the gleaming copper tubes on my roof gleaming in the spring sunlight...

Sam - well my wood pile is twice the size of last year's - easily.
