Our walk took in Middleton Moor today. Lots of mud and up on the moor the wind was bitterly cold, but look at that blue sky. To my mind this is one of the great attractions of winter. There is nothing quite so exhilarating as a bright cold day with distant views to please the wind-blown eye.

Not the greatest spell of weather just now for this sort of thing.
Lovely. On days when it does clear a bit, there is the faintest sense that the seasons are changing and there is warmth and light ahead.
Where is the nearest pub?
James - we were lucky, the weather forecast was much worse than the reality.
Sam - we should see our first snowdrops soon too. Always good to see them popping up.
Demetrius - only about two miles away down a steep, muddy path.
