Bus ride

The bus "driver" has a fascinating job.

He keeps nodding and grinning a lot. I was wondering what the passengers were asking him.

"I put my feet up on the opposite seat, and now I'm afraid there's dog-shit all over the upholstery. It it self-cleaning?"

(Apologies for the tiresome length of this post...)

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom)
(Dee doody doom doom, DOOM)

Seven little girls sitting in the back seat
Hugging and a-kissing with Fred
I said "why don't one of you come up and sit beside me?"
And this is what the seven girls said

[Chorus]
(All together now, one, two, three)
(Keep you mind on your drivin')
(Keep you hands on the wheel)
(Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead)
(We're having fun sitting in the back seat kissing and a-hugging with Fred)
(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom)
(Dee doody doom doom, DOOM)

Drove through the town, drove through the country
Showed 'em how a motor could go
I said "how do you like my triple carburetor?"
And one of them whispered low

[Chorus]

Seven little girls smooching in the back seat
Every one in love with Fred
I said "you don't need me, I'll get off at my house"
And this is what the seven girls said

(All together now, one, two, three)
(Keep you mind on your driving)
(Keep you hands on the wheel)
(Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead)
(We're having fun sitting in the back seat kissing and a-hugging with Fred)

All of them in love with Fred
(Dee doody doom doom)
Kissing and a-hugging with Fred
(Dee doody doom doom)
Wish that I could be like Fred
(DOOM)

Well I wonder what time of day they filmed that video?
As usually the traffic around Schiphol is bumper-to-bumper!

The number plate is Mannheim, perhaps he got lost?

He wont be smiling when they get rid of him, and if they don't what is the point of a driverless bus ?

Plus as with the Mercedes driverless car promo, it would be quicker to walk.

It seems to work fine going slowly on a completely empty road, with all junctions light-signal controlled and at right angles, in dry clear weather and broad daylight.

Just like the M4 during rush-hour on a November evening. Not.

Way to go yet, guys!

Sam - not self-cleaning, but the internal passenger recognition system will log the event, automatically send a bill and bar the passenger from all bus services until it is paid.

Scrobs - that sounds like a special excursion for oldies.

Bill - very early in the morning I imagine.

Demetrius - a Daimler connection?

Wiggia - I agree. It may take years for people to accept driverless buses.

WY - yes and they could be too cautious to work in heavy traffic. Switch on your indicators and just go - can't see them doing that, especially after one or two incidents require them to be even more cautious.

Driverless buses? Cambridge has them, I noticed recently. They seem, on occasion, to be unwilling to accept the confinement of their intended busway, preferring to trundle off into the nearby countryside . . .

DCB - is that because the area is so flat and everywhere looks the same?
