Posh nosh

It's our 40th wedding anniversary so we're off for some posh nosh this evening. Not something we do often -  once every 40 years seems to be the rate so far.

Well perhaps not quite that infrequent. I'm looking forward to it, but I hope it doesn't put me off the occasional fish finger sandwich.

Year ago we won a competition for a weekend in a suite at a very posh hotel. First night was a very modern cuisine dinner with little actually to eat. For the next two nights we stoked up in a pub down the road and treated the hotel dinner as a sort of light supper.

Congrats, AK, 40 years of undetected crime - well done! I am approaching my 50th this October and I too will be insisting on 'posh nosh' which means, of course, my fish finger sandwich will be liberally smothered in ketchup!

Congratulations, AKH. 40 is a real achievement. I hope the nosh exceeds expectations.

Demetrius - it wasn't anywhere near as light as I expected. Still full the next day!

David - Michelin ketchup is delicious.

Sam - thanks and yes it did.

Bloomin 'eck - that's fidelity for you. Good luck and all that.

James - thanks. It's partly luck. You meet or you don't meet.

a local pub serves a "posh fish finger sandwich". Any thoughts on how a fish finger can be poshified? Would it be about the fish used, or the method of capture of the fish, or the type of bread crumbs used?

Graeme - I would use fish fingers made from pieces of cod or haddock rather than minced "fish". Fresh home made bread and proper butter for the sandwich should do it.

Plus a pint of real ale of course.
