Around forty years ago looking for a new car one dealer visited was the Austin one. When I sat in the driving seat and tried the gear level it came off in my hand. Then the door would not shut. Yes it was an Allegro. Then I bought a Fiat 132, when I took it around the old Nurburgring it gave a lovely ride.

Demetrius - we tried an Allegro but patriotism only goes so far. We ended up with a Nissan - or Datsun as they then were.

No prize for being right, but the modern trend is a fixed penalty for being wrong.
