Cold winds here today, which for some reason pushed me into buying another load of wood. We easily had enough for this winter and possibly winter 2013/14 too, but a little voice told me we can't have too much. Anyhow, we have the storage space.
I know we are not able to predict the climate and don't know if it will warm or cool - but I still bought another load of wood. Maybe it's something in the air - not just that cold wind.
Maybe.

Man stuff. You can never have enough. It fills me with joy when I have built the wood pile, and there is always a slight tinge of regret when I start to run it down.
I might get some more, but I'm a bit concerned my supplier has left it all out in the driving rain. I bring masses of off-cuts home from the skip at work, so that helps. Not a lot of heat in it, but it's dry and free.
Do you reckon we will be getting a lot more Ash wood in the coming years? It's an ill wind, and all that...
By the way, have you taken down a post on "Mr Palomar?" It appears on my blog list under AKH, but no sign of it here.
Sam - I'm not sure about the Ash, bound to be regulations about moving it around I suppose. My logs have been left out in the rain, but I buy for at least a year ahead so it doesn't matter

I'm still chopping....keeps me fit and warm.
The sun appears to have cured its acne and according to 'them wot knows' that presages a new minimum and cold times ahead, so I would advise building a new and bigger wood storage unit - you might need it!
Thud - I'm doing a lot of splitting - my logs are are big and need to be split.
David - I have an old air-raid shelter which would take tons of wood.
May I ask how much per cwt? Is it sold in that?
James - I buy it by the builder's bag for £75. I don't know how much it weighs but it seems to be enough for the winter, although we don't light the burner every day by any means.
