DJ - yes, if they publish anything it must have a purpose and informing people accurately is never an adequate purpose. Some beneficial allegiance must be reinforced, veracity on its own doesn't make it as a beneficial allegiance.
Due to spam comments and now the UK Online Safety Act, comment moderation is on. Anonymous or impolite comments or comments likely to be flagged by the system are liable to be treated as spam.
I've argued before that we don't have newspapers any more, we have opinion-papers - they are all 'editorial' with only dubious relation to reality.
