Oh well, Keir Starmer is at least an unmissable clue. Maybe.
It is absurd to imagine that a mendacious political leader such as “Sir” Keir Starmer with his cardboard “knighthood” represents a political party which is not as mendacious as he is. Absurd to believe Labour claims to represent “the people”. It ain’t so.
Senior members of the Labour Cabinet have no moral compass and no interest in voters other than people to be manipulated by rhetoric. If absurd rhetoric works, then absurd rhetoric is what we get. It is foolish to expect otherwise.
Senior Cabinet members seem to be incapable of doing anything unselfish and that’s another clue. There are many. Always have been, it’s just that clues are thicker on the ground these days. Footprints and greasy fingerprints everywhere, that kind of thing.
Clues everywhere, but going back to senior Cabinet members, they are entirely satisfied with their own sense of purpose and whatever mendacity and evasion serves their ambitions and the needs of the moment.
If working people do not have the sense to see political parties for what they are, then ambitious politicians do not see it as their responsibility to enlighten them. They aren’t going to tell it as it is – why would they?
If working people do not have the sense to see the personal ambition revealed by the habitual evasions and mendacity of their elected representatives then hardly anyone in Parliament is likely to enlighten them.

Will Starmer put on a better display on his visit to the site of the Manchester outrage than he did with his visit to the site of the Southport outrage? The latter was perfunctory, was it not?
ReplyDeleteOh well, I don't suppose he's reflecting on his folly in encouraging hate speech against anyone opposed to his policies. "Far right" indeed. Once Lammy had accused Farage of having been in the Hitler Youth I realised that satire would be powerless against the swine.
Then again, does Starmer realise that "recognising" Palestine was peculiarly dimwitted?
I blame Tony Blair for making it acceptable to present facts in a favourable way, i.e. 'spin'. As time wore on politicians found they could make bigger and flashier presentations based on smaller and weaker facts. And now presentation is everything and facts are not required. Hence the outbreak of the false mis-information/dis-information and 'fact-checking' industries.
ReplyDeleteShame that Starmer hasn't mastered presentation yet.
dearieme - he gives no indication that he knows how to put on a better display than he did for Southport. He doesn't seem to feel anything in particular and can't act as if he does. Yes, recognising" Palestine was peculiarly dimwitted but he couldn't see it and I bet he still can't. He's weird and shouldn't be PM.
ReplyDeleteDJ - yes, skewed political presentation seems to be a facet of PR, advertising and the vast 'spin' business Tony Blair took up with such enthusiasm and unfortunately the ability to establish it as the political standard.
It ought to be an advantage for Starmer that he can't do it, but he even lacks the ability to rely on integrity instead.
