I set up a new Wi-Fi router this morning. Even for an hour or so while the Wi-Fi was down, it became noticeable how much we use it and how many gadgets we have connected. Ten gadgets in total, not counting granddaughter's phone which has to be connected next time she comes.
A new Wi-Fi router hasn't made the news any more encouraging though - I spotted that almost immediately after logging onto the interweb.
For example, the media still waffle on as if Keir Starmer merely has to pull his socks up to turn things around. As if another eight months of his mendacious bungling could be some kind of learning curve for Starmer and the horribly useless Cabinet blockers he picks with such unerring accuracy.
Keir Starmer issued 8-month warning as PM faces 'serious moment of peril'
The Prime Minister has been given an eight-month warning to turn the government around or else Labour could face a "serious moment of peril". The stark time limit has been issued by a number of Labour MPs and trade union leaders following the departure of two senior party figures. Sir Keir Starmer's 'phase two' of government kicked off with a major reshuffle following the sudden resignation of Angela Rayner, and then Lord Peter Mandelson.
I thought it might have been last May rather than the next, but then I'm looking on as a dissatisfied voter rather than an embarrassed MP.
ReplyDeleteNot only has Two Tier to pull his socks up he has to do so in a way that reduces the danger from Reform and the threats from within his own Party.
That's a tough thing to do and not covered in the Bureaucrats' Book of Handy Processes. An ex-Prime Minister walking perhaps?
Starmer is a winker, a blinker,
ReplyDeleteA stinker, a kinker, a jinker,
But no thinker, he.
At least he's safe from assassination: who'd bother?
Despite being illegal and not recommended, one of the risks with assassination is that you might get someone worse and more dedicated to the 'cause'.
ReplyDeleteDJ - quite a few people are predicting his resignation, but sorting out this mess can't be an attractive proposition.
ReplyDeletedearieme - good point, who'd bother? He's probably very safe.
DJ - I agree, there is a strong chance of getting someone worse and more dedicated to the 'cause'. Ed Miliband for example.
My wife and I went into town today and ordered new tablets for ourselves. On the way out of the shop she .questioned whether we were justified in spending the money. I replied, not really joking, that it was probably the last one I would ever buy. (I am in my late 80s ). I also mentioned that I wanted to hang on until 2029 so that I can see what I hope will be the demise of the Uniparty and some decent, genuine people elected as MPs. She burst out laughing and said she would do her best to help me last that long.
ReplyDelete"Ed Miliband for example." We mustn't jest, that idiot was mentioned yesterday as STILL being a potential 'leader' of the Labour bunch!
ReplyDeleteThat means total oblivion for lefties everywhere of course!
John - I hope you do get to see the demise of the Uniparty, let's hope we all do, those of us who know things ought to be far better than this.
ReplyDeleteScrobs - yes, he's popular within the party, maybe we want Starmer to cling on until Net Zero seems even more loony to the real world.
