If this is real (and I do hope it is), one would have to say “only in Britain”.

    Absolutely wonderful.

    1. Peter, are you known as Para? Just curious.

  2. Peter - it looks real enough and it looks like fun.

  3. This is not much worse than the football pitches of my long ago youth. Especially within the penalty areas. The puddles were not so deep and the mud not so runny. After a few diving saves the goalie was unrecognisable. The sodden leather football had become a mud covered medicine ball and headers were avoided. Of course, no changing rooms, no hot showers. Just strip down at pitch side, scrape what mud you could off and dress. Then back to school for the next lesson.

  4. That pitch is rather like the old Extra 'B' pitches my old RFC used...

I watched a friend go over the line once, and vanish in the hedge a few feet beyond! The only way to recognise him, was that he had blonde hair otherwise he was the same colour as these stalwarts!

    What a great film!

  5. Doonhamer - I remember pitches with patches like that too. Not so deep but probably more hazardous, being better for sliding tackles.

Scrobs - sounds like something from "The Art of Coarse Rugby" by Michael Green.
