For anyone who misses the wireless

For those who haven't come across it, Simon Stanhope's YouTube channel has lots of very well narrated stories.

From the channel description -

This channel celebrates classic English short stories, in particular the mystery and suspense stories which were a staple of the popular periodicals of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

  1. Excellent! Thank you very much.

I've just selected one and listened right through: Schalken the Painter by J. Sheridan Le Fanu.

    I'll be back for more!

  2. Sam - I've listened to four so far and I've just bookmarked your Le Fanu story for no.5. Much better than browsing the online gloom.

  7. dearieme - he wouldn't have what looks like a picnic basket either. It's an AI effort which always seem to have oddities.

  8. oddities: the hand/arm on the basket is too long, the girl at the back seems to be dressed a generation or two earlier than the rest of the family…

  9. djc - yes the arm is too long and he's holding the basket handle in an odd way. The girl at the back also seems to be missing a finger.
