In a very real way the Democratic presidential campaign was all about celebrity. You need no justification for your actions if you are a celebrity admired by other celebrities. Celebrities don't worry about spending money. Criticism can be dismissed as jealousy.
Unfortunately, for her, Kamala Harris was not a 'real' celebrity.
dearieme - thanks for the link, she does look haggard even though she's still the VP. I've seen claims about her drinking, but it could be something else too.
DJ - yes, she seemed out of place with the really glossy, A-list celebrities. Too much of a contrast with her obvious inability to hold an audience.
