Straight from the horse's mouth

Hacked UK voter data could be used to target disinformation, warn experts

Data from Electoral Commission breach could allow rogue actors to create AI-generated messages in effort to manipulate elections

Data accessed in the Electoral Commission hack could help state-backed actors target voters with AI-generated disinformation, experts have warned.

AI systems aren't likely to match the Grauniad's expertise in disinformation for some time. Even when they do, AI output is likely to read like a Grauniad article.

  1. I don't see the Guardian's problem. If there were "rogue actors" who wanted to destabilise our country, they'd probably just publish a newspaper like the Guardian.

  2. But the true concern is that AI systems are much cheaper to use than the stable of Guardian writers. Concern to the stable of Guardian writers that is - I bet the 'management' will find some justification for using AI though.

  3. The Graun doesn't approve of parvenu competition.

  4. Sam - maybe that's the problem, competition from another version of the Guardian.

DJ - it would be no surprise if they already use AI, at least to produce a basic article which can be quickly edited.

decnine - it would be entertaining if that parvenu competition were to call itself the Graun or the Grauniad.
