  1. The factory closed in 1982. No explanation as to why, but in that sort of video homage they don't need one.

    Possibly having to junk your battery after 30k miles had something to do with it. You couldn't even then chuck it in the skip. Getting rid of it would cost.

    And, of course, although the Tesla batteries will last much longer, that only staves off the same problem for a few years. And the more cars there are, the bigger the problem will be.

  2. I assume these were lead/acid batteries so easily recycled and relatively reasonable to replace?

  3. Sam and Woodsy - the batteries were lead/acid so easily recycled and not too expensive to replace. Easy to do that yourself too. The batteries were very bulky though.
