Maigret
We watched an episode of the 1960-63 MaigretTV series last night. A favourite of my parents at the time, I'd forgotten how watchable it was. A straightforward detective story, well done with no political correctness.
This weekend I've watched a couple of episodes of Stoney Burke with Jack Lord, a rodeo tv-series from the early 60's. Ditto, very watchable still, no wokery.
Funny with this old stuff, you watch something again decades later, sometimes it's better than you remember it and has stood the test of time, sometimes it's unwatchable.

ReplyDeleteAnon - I don't know that one, but I see it gets good reviews.

ReplyDeleteI quite like the Gambon series of Maigret too.
ReplyDeleteMark - I find more of it unwatchable than better than I remember. TV that is, films not so much.
ReplyDeleteJames - enjoyed a Gambon episode this evening. If another pops up we'll watch that too.
