The same ballpark as seasonal influenza
I've been following the work of this chap for a few years because he has produced some interesting analyses of reproducibility problems with biomedical research. His headline quote is at 2:30.
So that slight malaise we were discussing a couple of weeks ago could have been the virus doing its stuff in relatively healthy old geezers. What's interesting about that Ioannides clip is that there was no nention of large numbers reporting recovery from a really terrible flu-like illness.
Sam - yes it could have been the virus doing its stuff. We know a couple of people who have had flu-like illnesses during the last few months but nothing anywhere near serious enough for a hospital visit. That could be the virus too.
