Ruled out

Probably the best move as everyone else had ruled him out anyway.

Writing in the Observer last month, Lammy suggested he would make a decision during the Christmas period on whether to run, having assessed who best could counter the “populist, ethnic nationalism” of Johnson.

Lammy said: “The alternative to Boris Johnson’s ethnic nationalism that Labour should offer is a civic nationalism. Rather than basing national pride on biological heritage, skin colour or religion, civic nationalism says that we can be united around shared values and institutions.”

What shared values would those be? Endless attempts to make race the issue even when it isn't?

  1. He surely wants to be the mayor of Bernieland, once known as Tottenham

  2. I wish I paid as much attention to current affairs as Lammy. I can't recall Boris talking about skin colour, biological heritage or religion. And there are six people attending cabinet meetings who are from ethnic minorities, which seems to be an over-representation, if anything. I'm just glad Lammy is there to spot all this white superiority for those of us who don't share his subtlety.

  3. His Twitter feed on this is hilarious, yet among those tweeting are people who believe he would make a great PM, with quotes such as "we love you David, so sad your not running" etc
We seem to be a country that contains an awful lot of people who are totally delusional and that includes Lammy.

  4. Graeme - another Bernie? That's not a happy thought.

Sam - I'm also glad Lammy is there to spot all this white superiority. At least he comes across quite clearly as a clown which is something.

Wiggia - yes there are an awful lot of people who are totally delusional and that's worrying.
