Is Higher Education a Scam?

Some very interesting and uncomfortable points made by Peter Thiel. Higher education as a zero sum tournament for example - not something we are ever likely to see presented by the BBC or hear from mainstream political parties.

  1. When scratching around history it is astonishing what teenagers, sometimes younger ones, were capable of doing, and taking responsibility, not so long ago and before. In our modern world I am faced with people, still "studying" who are basically useless, while their great grandparents were capable adults at the same age.

  2. Demetrius - yes, although the good old days were generally no such thing, there have been losses as well as gains. As you say, we now seem to breed too many people who are basically useless.
