Finis

After two years I’ve decided to end my blogging activities. It has become far too time-consuming and I’m running out of things to say, or my efforts are said better elsewhere.

There are other things I want to pick up again, other avenues to explore. I may take up blogging again, possibly with a new blog, but not for quite a while.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for all your comments and if you don’t leave comments, many thanks for stopping by. I'd mention names but I'm afraid of forgetting someone, so thanks - you know who you are!

It’s been a highly enjoyable and enlightening experience. I've learned more from bloggers and blog commenters than ever I learned from the mainstream media. I've also gained a small inkling of just how many decent, knowledgeable people there are out there and that's something I'll never forget.

All the very best to everyone

Mike ( aka  A K Haart )

  1. Nay, nay and thrice nay AK!

Take a break instead, let the world imbue you with fresh info and bring your logical and entertaining style to the blogosphere once again:)

Or if you are determined-good luck with real life and don't forget to visit occasionally.

    Your old friend

    Angus

  2. Mr Mike, I understand your predicament, and respectfully suggest that you may consider the Scrobs approach, which is just an occasional post, and an ocasional check to make sure everyone's still alive!

I agree that where we're all trying to write like Marmite, there is some pressure, but - hey - my other blog I follow is all about gardening, which is really a true passion, so let's have your views on leeks and PSB for a start!

    Kindest regards, and thanks too,

    (another) Mike.

  5. "It’s been a highly enjoyable and enlightening experience."

This also applies to those who read your words.

So you're going to stop? Many have tried; few have succeeded. See you in a couple of weeks.

  6. My thanks for the many enjoyable hours spent reading your posts - and your books and stories.

This has been an oasis of calm, reason and wit in an increasingly crowded and frenetic blogosphere; I hope that, some day, you will once more feel the need to get back on the soap-box.

Meanwhile, I hope we meet again in the comment sections elsewhere.

    Au revoir!

  8. Very sad news indeed. You have, with a few others, elevated blogging to an art form. Despite your modesty, you are a very talented writer and have a genuinely original take on the world. I will miss your posts, and am very grateful for all you have done.

The good stuff always ends too soon, the dross endures.

    Stay well, AKH.

  10. All - gulp! Many thanks for your kind words. Maybe it's just a temporary burnout - we'll see.

  11. All of the above - PLUS+PLUS!

And at least you know where to find a decent up of tea/coffee should you be in the Dorset/Somerset area.

  12. Wow, "AK" stands for Mike.

Don't give up, just post less often. Blogging isn't all or nothing, it's still blogging if you only post something once a month to keep your hand in.

  13. Oh dear, think I'm going to die. A great loss.

  14. We all get the dread disease of Blogger Fatigue sometimes. I've nearly given up several times.

  15. Oh no! I do hope you will be back. I have always found that you have added sense to the world and led me in directions that I may never have gone.
I wish you well, but for myself rather than you, I would like to believe that it is a break rather than forever.

  16. I shall miss reading this blog Mike, there are not many such informative and well written blogs around. Thanks for all the entertainment and ideas, and good luck with finding nice things to do with your increased spare time.

  17. David, Mark, James, Yvonne and Woodsy - many thanks for your kind words. I do expect to be back one day, but since I posted this my novel writing has been going like a dream!

Maybe I can't do both, in which case I may be back once the book is finished and launched into Kindle obscurity (:

  18. Filthy Engineer - I find that very encouraging, because I suspect I just need a good break, but we'll see.

  19. Ahh, just as I found you (through Duff). I, too, took a break for 6 month, but have decided if I have something to say, I will blog it. I will keep checking back here. I also enjoy your short stories. I hope you will keep those going.

  23. Having been preoccupied in Shropshire for the past month my reading of other blogs has been minimal.

Now I have some time, the first thing I see is that one of my favourite bloggers has called it a day.

Tha attraction of your blog was the diversity of subjects, each of which was interesting.

Mark W is right - don't stop, just limit yourself to one a month or, even better, one a week.

Anyways, obviously the decision is yours and I wish you every success in whatever pursuit you now take up.

    Kindest regards.

  27. Kevin - thanks. Much appreciated and reciprocated.
