Thanks to global warming we are almost out of this year's log supply and very close to burning some of next winter's. Fortunately it is fairly well seasoned but I certainly wasn't expecting to use any of it.
So I recently bought another two loads from our local supplier. It's twice our usual annual order, but unlike wind power it keeps.
We've already started on the new stock, with a great deal of hissing - and plenty of cursing to get it to light properly.
ReplyDeleteBad management, I know, but our usual ordering system was thrown out of kilter by the wet weather of the past two summers - if you wait for a long dry spell to order in the logs, it turns out these days, you finally end up with a choice of damp wood or none at all.
Mac - I bought early, but it's the fag end of last year's stock. Much of it wet and some is a bit rotten.
ReplyDeleteI've stacked it though and it'll burn if given long enough to dry out. I think we may need bigger stocks to iron these things out. Either that or buy kiln dried.
