No magic here

Sky has a piece about JK Rowling's mockery of a Donald Trump spelling mistake where he wrote 'pour' instead of 'pore'.

JK Rowling has mocked Donald Trump on Twitter, pointing out an unfortunate typo in a tweet he posted to brag about his writing ability.

Ms Rowling could have tried erudite or witty as a response to Trump’s error but apparently she opted for juvenile. Maybe she should stick to the day job. Preaching to the choir is fine but even that isn’t something she does well.

Has she ever been witty or erudite? I tried reading one of her children's books when they first came out, but didn't get very far because I found it boring and derivative. She obviously has some talent - I admit that I couldn't write children's books for a living - but I get the impression that her success is out of all proportion to her talent. You would think that she would have some inkling of that and keep a low profile, but she's just another of those celebrities who thinks her opinions carry more weight because she has a bigger audience.

It is not as if she is a brilliant stylist .

Orthography wardens risk missing the point. Trump is good at bullyragging stuffies.

Her three books about a private detective aren't bad, but it seems that she doesn't really understand men very well.

I'm pleased she made millions from her children's books, but as I tried reading one and gave up after page three, I can't be arsed to give her much of a look these days.

Rich lefties are always best ignored.

Sam - I agree. I haven't tried her books apart from browsing through one of Grandson's copies but I've watched a number of Harry Potter films because Grandson likes them. The films are tedious and wholly uninteresting. SpongeBob SquarePants is at least imaginative.

Graeme - I don't know her books apart from a brief browse but the films are poor.

Sackers - I agree and it does seem deliberate.

Scrobs - I didn't know she'd written about a private detective. Does he have a magic wand?

They are getting more juvenile as they go on. One can't take anything they say seriously.

James - I agree but I'm not sure why it is so.
