Sunday sunshine

What a glorious day - don’t tell me there isn’t a vengeful God you atheist curmudgeons.

He is one of the most influential MPs in the House of Commons and is currently overseeing the biggest shake-up of Britain’s prostitution laws in a generation.

But today the Sunday Mirror can reveal Keith Vaz, a married father of two, is leading a double life paying young male escorts for sex.

Mr Vaz last met two Eastern European prostitutes eight days ago, even though he is chair of a powerful parliamentary group probing vice and drugs.

Oh bliss. I went straight out and cleaned all the moss off the patio with a smile on my lips and a song in my heart.

Good grief, you couldn't make it up. But he evidently has. How and why do we elect people like this?

He's one of those MPs that made my heart sink, without me being able to specify exactly what he has done wrong. If anyone feels the same about him, I recommend having a look at his wikipedia entry. It all comes flooding back: low-grade venality and a preening ego. It starts with him trying to get Rushdie's Satanic Verses banned, for which alone he deserves worse than sacking.

Brilliant news. May it run and run.

We, don't, they stand for election in communities that even in this more enlightened environement would vote for a donkey, or goat in this case if it had the right rosette.

The remarkable thing is he is the longest serving Asian MP in parliament despite having the longest rap sheet, there must have been an awful lot of "community" spirit to keep him in place.

He's been an utter disgrace from start to finish.

I hope he's chucked out as soon as possible.

Demetrius and Wiggia - as we know, too many voters vote tribally and ignore the candidate.

Sam - he comes across as a very slippery character, but yes, his stance on Rushdie was always a giveaway.

Scrobs - I hope so too, but he'll pop up somewhere else.

I hope maximum mileage is made from all this, anything that keeps labour down and out is fine by me.

If I were getting up to all those antics I would be keeping a low profile. But the strange thing is that politicos don't seem to have any sense of modesty or shame at all. Which begs the question - exactly what is considered 'vice' these days. Perhaps in expense account society rent boys and hookers are considered as genteel as G&T - and I mean Gin and Tonic.

There is no doubt that with backing of Corbyn"a private matter" ditto Peter Tatchell who previously outed gay politicians and others simply looking the other way that Vazeline will simply brazen it out.
His appearance in the commons today was a masterclass in business as usual, who me guv, and I fully expect the private matter will see him through, there is another inquiry and if that sees daylight there is hope, but it has happened to him so many times in the past that he probably sees it all as no more than normal everyday life, the only real hope is he slips on the trail of oil he leaves...............

I once attended a meeting at which he was one of the speakers. At that time I didn't know who he was or anything about him but I took an instant dislike to him and have never changed my mind!

Thud - I hope so too, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Roger - that's a good point and I'm sure there is something in it. Our mores are not theirs.

Wiggia - I hope he doesn't succeed, but if he does and is reelected in 2020 then the electorate is not fit for purpose either.

Henry - even though I've only ever seen him on TV, I've never liked or trusted him. Not sure what it is, but many people seem to have picked up on it.

Let's see Vaz wiggle out of this one, although I think he will. Tatchell and Corbyn will give him a free pass, especially now that he's been found to be a member of a 'protected minority'.

Bill - I hope not because it will tell us more than we want to know about the establishment. I'm not holding my breath though.
