Cameron's EU breakthrough

Our Prime Minister continues to crawl around the corridors of power in search of a bone. To the surprise of nobody he claims to have found one.

David Cameron wins breakthrough EU offer on migrant benefits
June referendum on cards as PM forces concession from Donald Tusk for Britain to apply brakes immediately after poll.

The whole business is too tedious. A genuine Prime Minister of a genuine democracy would tell Tusk and the EU to piss off and devise immigration rules to suit the national interest. Maybe he'd do it by fax too, just to rub it in.

He's missed the boat - by a long way too.

Soon, there will be a Boston in every town in the UK too.

This charade will be presented as an achievement of the first degree by Cameron whatever the content.
No meaningful changes can occur without treaty change and that has been ruled out by the EU until 2019, so having dumped nearly all his "planks" of renegotiation, border controls, sovereignty of the pound, and parliament he will be offering a "temporary" benefits halt if that.
His record of negotiating with the EU is so piss poor it beggars belief anyone would believe anything he says anyhow.

Well it came to pass, not even the "thin gruel" Jacob Rees - Moog spoke of.

Scrobs - I think so too - far too late now.

Wiggia - he comes across as if PM is just a job like any other. Go through the motions, build up some useful contacts then move on. It is thin gruel but he'll not ask for more.

Demetrius - "With my nick-nack and click-clack and sing a fine song" except he doesn't even do that.

As you would expect, on further examination it turns to be the merest smoke and mirrors.

The UK "might" be able to apply new rules to immigration "if" all the other EU members agree.

They won't, ever, so that's the end of that.

The rest of his "deal" is about as substantial as that bit, so essentially you can just write the whole thing off as a load of warm horse manure.

Which is what we all expected right from the start.

WY - yes, we knew he'd deliver nothing and he did.
